Jimmy and Rosalia: a folk opera

Baroque Opera

Aureas Voces will premiere a concert version (unstaged) of a new work by Nick Veltmeyer that artfully blends Baroque opera and maritime folk music. The work is based on George Frideric Handel’s opera, Acis and Galatea, and the folk songs and stories of Nova Scotia, as collected by folklorist Helen Creighton. Redefining opera culture, “Jimmy and Rosalia: a folk opera” showcases the depth and beauty of maritime folk music with an award winning all-youth cast of rising stars in early music.
