Artist Marie-Claire Blais joins the curator of the exhibition Marie-Claire Blais: Streaming Lights for a conversation around the works on display, including an immersive pictorial installation conceived specifically for the Contemporary Art Square space, where the artist’s explorations of light and colour take shape.

About the artist
Marie-Claire Blais studied architecture at the Université de Montréal before devoting herself entirely to her artistic practice. Working across different media, Blais explores various experiences of movement in space, focusing on how such encounters challenge the perception and memory of the observer. She has participated in several artist residencies in Mexico, Italy and France. Marie-Claire is represented by Blouin Division gallery in Montreal, where she lives and works.

About the curator
Anne-Marie St-Jean Aubre is the Curator of Quebec and Canadian Contemporary Art (1945 to Today) and holds the Gail and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair at the MMFA. As Curator of Contemporary Art at the Musée d’art de Joliette, where she worked from 2017 to 2023, she oversaw many solo and group exhibitions featuring women artists, Indigenous artists, and artists from diverse backgrounds.
