The SMAM presents four outstanding and moving musical settings of Psalm 51, Miserere mei, Deus, written by four composers of different backgrounds: Josquin des Prez written for Ercole d’Este (Ferrare, 1504), Gregorio Allegri for the Papal Chapel (Roma, 1638), one by Leonardo Leo for the Chapel Royal of Sardinia (Torino, 1739), and James McMillan (London, 2009).
