My first visit to the Museum

What is a museum? Over the course of an interactive Museum stroll interspersed with creative and discovery activities, the children will explore themes related to works in various collections, talk about what they see, and marvel at the beauty of art.

Planning a group visit to the Museum

Raise students’ awareness about

  • The role of museums (showcasing and conserving works)
  • The fact that we can learn a lot from artworks and cultural objects
  • The challenges around displaying works and the richness of each collection
Creative activity

  • Make a miniature model of the Museum.
Activities

Build mathematical knowledge.
Assemble and compare actual collections.

10 to 15 min
Talk about what a collection is, and how it is stored and protected. Suggest that participants assemble a collection of simple objects at home.

Planning a group visit to the Museum

Group entrance

The group entrance is located at 2075 Bishop Street. Plan on arriving 30 minutes before the time scheduled for your visit.

Organized transportation

If you are coming by school bus or chartered bus, allow extra time for potential traffic congestion.
