The MMFA has established a research fund in the name of Danièle Archambault, in order to pay tribute to the former Registrar and Head of the Museum’s Archives department, who passed away from cancer in February. This fund will enable the hiring of a recent graduate in archival management once every two years, and the selected candidate will be tasked with handling one of the Museum’s many archive groups.
With this fund, the MMFA wishes to mark, in an important and continual way, Danièle Archambault’s outstanding contribution to the Museum’s development, to the perfecting of its collections management system, and to Quebec’s museum milieu as a whole. The fund was established before Danièle’s passing, in collaboration with her and her colleagues, so as to ensure the continuation of her work and the perpetuity of the values she cultivated throughout her career. It serves the dual aim of creating an employment opportunity for the next generation of professionals, and securing the management of the MMFA’s archival documents and access to them for research purposes.
The MMFA’s teams wish to express their most sincere condolences to the friends and family of Ms. Archambault: her partner, Gilles Lafontaine, their two daughters, Florence and Héloïse, and their three grandchildren, Arnaud, Charlotte and Marion. The Museum also thanks the members of its Board of Trustees and acquisition committees, in particular, Marcel Elefant, Roger Fournelle, Sari Hornstein and Pierre Lapointe, as well as all the employees past and present, especially those of the Archives department, who helped establish this fund in her memory.
All those who would like to make a donation to the Danièle Archambault Research Fund can do so by contacting the MMFA Foundation at 514-285-1600, ext. 227.
