The MMFA Foundation is pleased to announce the nomination of Henry Mizrahi, president of Les Aliments Lesters Ltée, as chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Mizrahi succeeds Sylvie Demers, who is stepping down after seven years as chair. Ms. Demers expertly steered the Foundation through a mandate focused on growth and change, as illustrated by the steadily improving financial results and strengthened governance.
“The MMFA is one of the city’s top landmarks. My love of art, and my belief that it should be part of the lives of all Montrealers, are what inspired me to get involved with the Museum’s Foundation. I begin my tenure with great respect for the MMFA’s long and rich history, and full of enthusiasm for its future. I’m joining an extraordinary team and I look forward to working together to achieve great things,” said Mr. Mizrahi.
At the helm of Les Aliments Lesters limitée since 2005, Henry Mizrahi has demonstrated his leadership qualities throughout his business career as well as in his role on the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. He has served as a Board member since 2018, notably as chair of the Budget, Audit and Allocation Committee.
“Henry is a true philanthropist and an outstanding leader. I welcome him, serene about what lies ahead and enthusiastic about all that we will accomplish together,” said Jo-Anne Duchesne, Director General of the Foundation. “We share a strong conviction that art has the power to transform lives, and it is a great privilege to work under his chairmanship.”
The Museum Foundation would like to thank its outgoing chair, Sylvie Demers, for her unwavering support and dedication over the past few years. Ms. Demers will continue to pursue her commitment to the arts and culture at the MMFA, as she will stay on as co-chair of its major fundraising campaign, The Museum Transforms Lives.
The Board of Trustees welcomes additional new members
Francis Malka, president of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival; Vy Nguyen, M.B.A., CIM®, associate portfolio manager, Groupe Bertrand Nguyen Pelletier; Tania Poggione, art consultant; and Alysia Yip-Hoi, jewelry designer, Maison Alysia, will also be joining the Board, while Michel de la Chenelière, Patrick Loulou, Yves Roy and Sebastian van Berkom are stepping down. The Foundation would like to extend a warm welcome to its new members, and thanks its outgoing members for their valuable contribution.
