Launched in February in digital format, Pierre Lapointe’s L’heure mauve is being released today on vinyl via Bonsound. Created to accompany the exhibition Nicolas Party: L’heure mauve at the MMFA, the vinyl album is also offered in a luxurious box set that includes a numbered silkscreen print by Swiss artist Nicolas Party.
At the MMFA’s invitation, singer-songwriter-composer Pierre Lapointe composed a soundtrack for the exhibition, on view until October 16, 2022. Reflecting the themes and structure of this major exhibition, the album is conceived in seven tableaux, each of which combines an original creation by Pierre Lapointe with a novel rendition of a classic song by a Quebec or European artist. The album features 12 songs and two instrumental pieces.
The album is on sale at the MMFA Boutique and Bookstore (1390 Sherbrooke Street West) and at the Bonsound online store for $39.95.
A luxurious limited-edition box set
In addition to Pierre Lapointe’s album L’heure mauve, this elegant box set includes Double Faces, a numbered silkscreen print signed by the artist Nicolas Party. With a limited run of 100 copies, this collector’s album is an opportunity to acquire an original work by one of the leading artists of the contemporary international scene. Available exclusively at the MMFA Boutique and Bookstore for $2,000.
Support for this project is provided by Xavier Hufkens Philanthropic Action, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation.
