The MMFA Foundation launches its 2024-2025 annual campaign
Today, the Foundation of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) is launching its 2024-2025 annual campaign, which is part and parcel of its 2023-2028 major fundraising campaign, The Museum Transforms Lives.
“As a non-profit organization, the MMFA counts on its Foundation to help it fulfill its cultural and social mission,” says Jo-Anne Duchesne, Director General of the Foundation. “The community’s generosity is what makes it possible for the Museum to realize all the amazing projects it embarks on.”
Bringing together upwards of 9,000 active donors, the Foundation finances over 20% of the MMFA’s annual operating budget, representing close to half of the institution’s own-source revenues. This enables the Museum to preserve its collection – unlike any in the world – and to maintain and run its community engagement activities. Each year, more than 70,000 people visit the Museum for free on certain designated days. Furthermore, it offers customized arts activities for marginalized people through its Sharing the Museum accessibility program, which has served over 300,000 participants since it was started in 1999.
“We are fully confident that we can succeed in mobilizing the community around the wonderful cause that is art. Every year, the MMFA accomplishes great things that benefit society more and more,” says Henry Mizrahi, President of the MMFA Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
