The MMFA is hooked on school!
The MMFA is proud to support the 2019 Hooked on School Days taking place across Quebec from February 11 to 15 under the theme Our actions, a + in their success.
In order to help young people develop their full potential and succeed in school, the MMFA is providing 3,000 passes to the initiative as part of its Coup de pouce aux familles program. A study published in 2012 by the Canadian research firm Hill Strategies shows that educating the young about art not only improves the academic performance of the most disadvantaged students, but also increases their chances of career success once they are adults, as well as makes them citizens who are more engaged in their community.
The Museum is also committed to working with the various Hooked on School Days partners throughout the year. As part of its educational activities, through different programs and partner organizations the MMFA welcomes thousands of young people—in 2018, over 65,000, from preschoolers to university students—every year. That means 65,000 parents and children from disadvantaged neighbourhoods enjoying the many benefits of art: personal discovery, an openness to the world, and the development of creativity.
